Saving for Old Age and Children

What freedom do you have when you have to opt between consuming and saving? For most of us, our family is the most important thing to us. It is a foundation. It seems sensible too that we should save for our children and our old age. Saving for these primary two reasons should not be hindered.

But it is amazing to see that for all practical reasons our government treats saving as a felony punishable by heavy fine. First it raises the complicatedness of saving by putting a load on us with more and more burdensome taxes to support its extravagant spending. Next, it diminishes the money income from our savings by indiscriminately holding down the interest rate. Then it employs inflation to trim down the buying power of whatever cash we have succeeded in saving.

It is because of the mundane and pedantic nature of life which sums up in “getting & spending” that some of us have put more efforts and our time to pursue knowledge. One should acquire knowledge from good eating to literature, from politics to good manners in the last century, from space to human emotion and learning to distinguish that one can only make a living either by the application of human effort to raw materials or by impounding the rights of others. One should learn to avoid the mass-minded not because it is uninteresting, but because nothing can ever be done to improve it. If improvement needs to be done in the society then one should improve the individual who composes it. One should remember that society is a jumbled mass of individual and not an entity in itself

Man is a link between the beast and the superman. But how do I define a superman? Nietzsche’s supermen was someone who saw mankind as a conduit which has no end and constantly elongates further and further with no consciousness of decisive limits.

Maybe there exist a man who can be liberated of all prejudices, superstitions, anxiety, depression, hypochondria, hallucination, delusion and mental confusion; who realizes what it means to be a human being, who behaves gently, compassionately and with love, who has his own idea and refuses to follow the herd. Can he be the Superman?
