Bergman - Revisited_‘Music in Darkness’ (1948) (Musik i mörker)

The 4th Film ‘Music in Darkness’ (1948) (Musik i mörker) by Ingmar Bergman shows in the beginning, Birger Malmsten having a nightmare and being groped by several arms into a swamp like puddle.

This is a reminder of a scene from Satyajit Ray’s Nayak (1966) when in a dream sequence Arindam (Uttam Kumar) sinks in a quicksand of money.

Melancholic scenes of despair, misery, disability, helplessness, suffering, exploitation, class difference, inconsequentiality, blindness leading to alienation, bitterness, the breaking down of upper class ego, pleading, plummeting into darkness callousness !
