Act II Scene VII
As You Like It – William Shakespeare
So? So we are all characters in this world, envisaging complex choices everyday of our lives, and the choices that we make or prefer, designs our life-changing chaotic situations.
Each of our lives can be sketched from birth through childhood and into our adult lives, enveloped by struggles to lead a better life, have a career, a family, a house, a car, fabricating a financial safety net and building up relationship - all intersecting with one another at one point of time or the other.
We start our lives with high expectations (high living and high thinking!), and in Shakespeare’s own word, I quote -
“….That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything….”
Unwittingly and naively, our base becomes a life of consumption, excretion, copulation and hibernation – while all other activities are but measly excuses and supplementary to existence.
